NOTICE OF PROPOSED AD VALOREM TAX EFFORT
WEST JASPER SCHOOL DISTRICT
The West Jasper School District will hold a public hearing on its proposed school district budget for fiscal year 2024-2025 on July 18, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at the Central Office Boardroom located on the Bay Springs High School campus. At this meeting, a proposed ad valorem tax effort will be considered. The West Jasper School District is now operating with projected total budget revenue of $21,908,096.  Of that amount, 21.97 percent or $4,813,944 of such revenue is obtained through ad valorem taxes.  For next fiscal year, the proposed budget has total projected revenue of $20,932,721.  Of that amount, 27.60 percent or $5,777,504 is proposed to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy.  For the next fiscal year, the proposed increase in ad valorem tax effort by West Jasper School District may result in an increase in the ad valorem tax millage rate.  Ad valorem taxes are paid on homes, automobile tags, business fixtures and equipment, and rental real property.  Any citizen of the West Jasper School District is invited to attend this public hearing on the proposed ad valorem tax effort, and will be allowed to speak for a reasonable amount of time and offer tangible evidence before any vote is taken.

Hunting and Fishing Lease
Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Jasper School District will accept sealed bids up to and no later than 4 p.m. August 13, 2024, for hunting and fishing rights of the following parcels of land: +/- 290 acres located in Section 16, Township 2 North, Range 11 East, +/-638 acres Section 16, Township 4 North, Range 10 East, +/-336 acres Section 16, Township 1 North, Range 10 East, +/-237 acres Section 16, Township 1 North, Range 10 East, +/-60 acres Section 16, Township 1 North, Range 11 East, +/-448 acres Section 16, Township 1 North, Range 11 East, +/-182 acres Section 16, Township 2 North, Range 10 East, +/-20 acres Section 16, Township 2 North, Range 11 East and +/-560 acres Section 16, Township 3 North, Range 11 East all in Jasper County Mississippi.  The leases shall be for a period of 5 years. The West Jasper School District reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
